Blue Economy Committee Holds Meeting at University of Tripoli to Develop the National Blue Economy Strategy
The Blue Economy Committee held its regular meeting today, Monday, July 15, 2025, at the Faculty of Science – University of Tripoli, chaired by Prof. Dr. Ismail Al-Shaqman, the committee's chairperson. The meeting was attended by the Dean of the Faculty of Science at the University of Tripoli, several committee members, and representatives from relevant institutions.
The meeting focused on key topics related to the development of the National Blue Economy Strategy, including the approval of the minutes from the previous meeting and a proposal to hold an introductory workshop aimed at clarifying the concept of the blue economy, along with its developmental and environmental dimensions. Updates on the committee’s ongoing tasks under the approved work plan were also discussed.
It is worth noting that the Blue Economy Committee was formed by a decision of the Minister of Economy and Trade as part of efforts to support economic diversification and enhance the contribution of the blue economy to the national economy by sustainably and efficiently utilizing marine and coastal resources.
This meeting is part of a series of ongoing sessions aimed at formulating a comprehensive strategic vision that addresses current challenges and capitalizes on the opportunities offered by Libya’s maritime position, thereby contributing to sustainable development across various sectors related to the blue economy.
